Boot issues after installing Mac OSX

Hi guys, hope you are all trying to install Mac OS on your system and few might have succeeded in doing that...

Now, few people might be having some Boot up problems... They might be able to boot to Mac or Windows

So, this is the solution

Step 1: Insert the Mac OS DVD

Step 2: Boot from the DVD using -v -s as the parameter.... -s stands for Single User Mode

Step 3: Now type fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0

Step 4: Now, flag=1 ; here 1 represents the Partition 1st on your disk... the partition number may vary.. in case if you are having 3 partitions and out of which 2 partitions are for windows and 3rd partition is for Mac
Then if you want to boot from Mac then type flag=3 else you can type flag=1

Step 5: write

Step 6: update

Step 7: quit

Step 8: reboot

Now you will be able to boot to the Operating System for which you have set the flag... Now no need to format your PC to repair your Boot... :P

Step 1: Go to Network and Sharing Center and then click on Manage Network Connections

Step 2: Right Click on Local Area Connection and click on properties

Step 3: Single click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on properties

Step 4: Now click on Advanced and add the new ip addresses which you want

Step 5: Thats it :) now click on OK and Open the Command Prompt

Step 6: Now type ipconfig... you will see that your LAN card adapter has multiple IP addresses and your would be able to ping your friends in other network

Hi, I got a Dell Studio XPS 16. After long sleepless nights, I have finally installed Mac OS on my lappy, though few told me that your laptop is incompatible. So in case if you have Dell Studio XPS 16, then follow the steps below to successfully install iAtkos 1.4 (Mac OS distro).

Step 1: Boot from the DVD and Press F8

Step 2: Now try cpus=1 -v ; cpus=1 indicates referring to the core 1 of your CPU and -v means verbose

Step 3: Now when the installation screen appears, click on Utilities and then go to disk utility

Step 4: Now Format the partition as Mac Extended Journaled, note: Make sure that you create a partition using Windows, else you wont be able to see the free space in mac..

Step 5: Now select the partition which you have created.. make sure you dont create 2 Partitions with filesystem as Mac Extended Journaled

Step 6: Click on Customize the check those which are mentioned below:

Base Installation:
iATKOS
BootLoader - chameleon v1
Patches:
extra
DSDT
Apple Decrypt
9.7.0 Kernel
Disabler
Remove TyMCE
Drivers:
VGA - Intel
Intel SpeedStep - both
Voodoo HDA
Voodoo PS/2
Laptop Battery
NTFS - 3G
Network BrodCom578x - needs patch see below
Post Install

Step 7: Now let the Mac OS X get installed on your system

Step 8: Once the Mac OS is installed... your system will reboot... now again set the boot parameter as cpus=1 -v -x; where -x stand for safe mode.. This because ATI Mobility HD 3670 is not supported by Mac OS...so might see a scrambled screen on normal boot...

Step 9: Now you will have to enter few details and finally you will reach the Mac Desktop

Step 10: Now the real thing starts. Now go to System/Library/Extensions and delete all the kexts files related to ATI. since this kexts are loaded whenever you boot the System.

Step 11: Go to http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=161650
and download all the files attached..dont install them now...will let you know

Step 12: Download Driver 3.zip from here

Step 13: For Ethernet Drivers download this file

Step 14: For install Kexts download from here

Step 15: Now you can install them...This should get you working... In fact the only things that don't work are the ATI card and the WiFi 1500.
You will have a functioning system.

If you face any difficulty.... please comment me.. will try to help you out.. Tested with iAtkos only

I have successfully updated 10.5.6 to 10.5.8 with all the Mac Softwares running smoothly..

There might be many cases in which you see that your PC or Computer is starting... There are led light which are lit and blinking... but you don't see any display on your screen....

At the same time your Monitor or LCD is showing a blinking Green Light...

This scenario means that, there is nothing wrong with your Monitor, since the led is green..

Now the problem lies inside you chassis... though you may think that, since all the lights are lit and the CPU fan is running, my system is prefectly fine and there is some issue with the monitor or its connectivity...

But the real problem lies in the RAM (Random Access Memory)

So what i will recommend you this that, power off your system... remove the RAM modules... use an eraser to clean the base pins... so that the carbon accumulated will be wiped off...

Now insert the memory modules back again...

Now start your LOVELY Computer

Hurry!!! The Display will be there on your screen... :P
